Whatever they could do to make the public interested in the case, they did. With little interest, Birgit’s family would hand out flyers and take out a missing-persons ad. Questions even arose that as she was getting a divorce, was that possibly a reason for her to go missing? With seeingly no evidence linking Birgit to Mexico and her family saying that as she was a loving mother, she would not have committed suicide. Instead, it was her brother, Wolfgang Sielaff, who continued to ask the investigation. But the police didn’t focus their resources on finding Birgit. There was talk that she may have gone to Mexico or committed suicide. Despite the pleas of her family, the police department didn’t provide much focus on her case.
